The aim of the Artists Market is to give local artists and artisan producers greater opportunities to promote and sell their work direct to the public.
The markets showcase a diverse range of high quality artworks and skilled crafts, produced by some of the most talented, established and emerging artistic talents in the area. Visitors to the market can expect to find everything from contemporary and traditional painting, drawing and sculpture, ornate glassware, striking photography, individually hand-made gifts and cards and sumptuous jewellery which, because they are being sold directly by the producers themselves, can be bought for a significantly lower price than you'd expect to pay in most galleries, shops and boutiques. Many artists will also happily take on commissioned work, and are happy to talk about their work, and to discuss ideas with potential customers.
The Southampton Artists Market is held around the Bargate in Southampton city centre on the first and third Saturday of every month form 9 a.m. until 5.30 p.m.
